Three men from Qumbu in the Eastern Cape were killed when their vehicle collided head-on with a mini-bus taxi on Saturday.
Provincial Transport Department spokesperson, Unathin Binqose, said the accident occurred on the N2 between Qumbu and Mthatha.
He said 16 passengers in the mini-bus were injured in the crash, while three men in a VW Polo died on the scene.
The injured were taken to Nelson Mandela Academic hospital for further medical management.
Binqose said Libode SAPS have opened a culpable homicide docket.
