Three high profile criminal cases are set down on the court role for the Mossel Bay Regional Court on Thursday. The suspects are appearing in separate cases on charges of rape and fraud. Correspondent Louise Karsten reports that a 42 year old man from Great Brak River is appearing on charges of rape after he was arrested for allegedly raping his elderly mother. The victim died of natural causes shortly after her son was arrested.
“In another case a man from Albertinia is accused of raping a 63-year old woman in her house.
The 41 year old suspect was arrested after the victims’ husband came home and found the man partially clothed in one of the rooms.
Police arrested him inside the house.
In a fraud case a 35 year old Mossel Bay resident, Wayne Anthony is appearing in court on charges of fraud amounting up to R400 000. Anthony also face three other similar charges of theft and fraud after he allegedly deposited money into his personal account which belonged to the car dealership that he worked for. The case is investigated by the Hawk’s anti-corruption unit.
