Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the brutal killing of three elderly women aged between 67 and 81 on Thursday evening near Cacadu, formerly Lady Frere.
Provincial spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says according to information, neighbors became suspicious and concerned about the quietness in the homesteads where the women lived.
He says it was discovered that they had been murdered in their homes.
Kinana says police were alerted on Friday morning.
The motive for the killings is not known and the Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga has ordered a 72-hour activation plan to mobilise all the necessary resources for the speedy arrest of the suspects.
