Three people have been killed in a fire which destroyed a home in East London.
Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli says the incident happened on Friday in the suburb of Dawn.
He says Radio Control was contacted to attend to the fire but on arrival found firefighters busy trying to extinguish the blaze.
Warrant Officer Nkohli says three burnt bodies were found lying next to each other on the floor.
The victims were identified by the family member who had contacted the police as being a couple and a young boy.
An investigation is being conducted into the cause of the fire and the names of the victims have not yet been released.
