Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Mthatha Stock Theft Unit member, Sergeant Obey Sotoyi.
Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana, said they were arrested on Thursday by members of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation Team, supported by the Tactical Response Team and the Local Record Centre.
Sotoyi was killed on 5 August in Langeni Township in the Tsolo Area.
Mhlakuvana said Sergeant Sotyoyi's stolen firearm was found in their possession, while a second firearm, a 9mm Vector pistol, and 11 rounds of ammunition.
He said the team was acting on a tip-off when they arrested the suspects on the R-61 towards Ngcobo.
One of the suspects fled from the vehicle but was chased down and arrested.
Mhlakuvana said the three suspects were due to appear in court on Friday.
