Port Elizabeth police have arrested three men and retrieved hundreds of units of abalone worth thousands of rands on the Wildside of the City.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu reports that Constable Heindrich Dreyer from the Mount Road Cluster Operational Command Centre was asked to assist on Wednesday afternoon with possible abalone poaching at the Willows.
Constable Dreyer is an avid diver and retrieved 500 units of abalone from the sea.
Three suspects aged between 21 and 35 years of age old were arrested.
The abalone is valued at R29 000.
Diving equipment to the value of R 10 000 was also confiscated.
