Port Elizabeth police arrested three men in connection with a robbery at a liquor store in Fernglen on Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said six men entered the Prestons Liquor store in Stella Londt Road and held both staff and customers at gunpoint at about 10 am.
She said they fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and liquor, sparking what appeared to be a chaotic car chase throughout the city which included the hijacking of several vehicles.
Naidu said the suspects were also involved in separate accidents in Diaz Road and King Edward Street in Newton Park.
Three suspects managed to evade arrest but police were able to nab three others, aged 22, 28 and 33.
They will be charged with highjacking and business robbery.
