The Eastern Cape Transport Department says the Kei Rail Project has recorded another milestone by reaching more than 100,000 passengers utilising the service.
The Department says a total of 100,477 had utilised the service between Amabele station near Stutterheim and Mthatha since it was reinstated last June.
Eastern Cape Transport MEC Thandiswa Marawu says the passenger volumes clearly show that Bhisho took the right decision to get this service back on track.
She says the market demand is there.
The Eastern Cape Transport Ministry says Kei Rail is one of the six key projects, which were pronounced by MEC Marawu to feature at the Eastern Cape Transport Infrastructure Investment Conference being held in July.
