Thousands brave wet and windy PE conditions to welcome the Springboks

The Springboks departed from their hotel and started their tour through Nelson Mandela Bay on Sunday morning.

Thousands of fans braved wet and windy conditions to congratulate the 2019 Rugby World Cup Champions on bringing home the Webb Ellis Cup.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu said the tour bus was escorted through the streets amid heavy police presence.

The Boks departed from City Hall to captain Siya Kolisi’s home in Zwide, and would then move on to Uitenhage and Despatch, the hometown of coach Rassie Erasmus.

The team would return to Port Elizabeth with stops at Cleary Park and Greenacres Shopping Centre.

The day started early for captain Kolisi when he visited the hostel at Grey High School in Millpark before the start of the team's tour of the metro.

The Boks fly out to Cape Town on Sunday afternoon for the final day of their victory tour in the Mother City on Monday.
