The Go George bus service has become a reality.
The Integrated Public Transport Network is a joint local, provincial and national government project and according to George Municipality, is the culmination of years of hard work by a large group of dedicated people.
Municipality spokesperson, Chantel Edwards-Klose says they introduced the first four test routes on Monday and will expand the service next year to cover the greater George municipal area.
Meanwhile, the introduction of the service was not without its hiccups.
George Mayor, Charles Stander says there were a few problems on the Rosemoor route which led to some delays.
However, he says corrective measures were put in place to address the problems.
The build-up to the introduction of the Go George bus service was also marred by the tragic murder of taxi boss, Tom Queba, who was the chief negotiator in the process for the city's taxi industry.
