At least ten people have been killed and scores injured after an Intercape Passenger Bus crashed on the N12 between Oudtshoorn and George in the early hours of Thursday morning.
There were 50 people on the bus when the driver lost control on a hairpin bend at about 2am.
Paramedics and police had to climb into the bus to free some people who were trapped in the debris.
Among the injured was a five-year-old boy who was found lying in the bus next to the body of his mother.
Around 50 people were believed to be inside, excluding the deceased.
The road between George and Oudtshoorn would be closed for several hours.
