Eastern Cape police said the body of a teenage boy who was reported missing over a week ago, was found on the banks of the Silindini River at Sterkspruit.
Police spokesperson, Captain Ursula Roelofse, the body of 13-year-old Asithandile Hoko, was found on Tuesday.
Hoko was reported missing by his grandmother on 7 November, three days after leaving her home at New Rest to visit his mother at Thuntubele Locality.
Roelofse said it alleged that he had crossed the Ezingwenyameni River on his way to visit his mother, and never returned home to New Rest.
She said SAPS management thanked members of the community and the police members who were part of the team that searched for the boy.
