Police have arrested four young suspects at Alexandria in the Eastern Cape in connection with an horrific gang rape and murder.
Police captain Ernest Sigobe says the men, aged between 16 and 18, were arrested in KwaNonqubela Township after police responded to a complaint of a house that was on fire and discovered the body of a woman burned beyond recognition.
It is alleged that the suspects abducted the woman from one of the streets in the township before gang raping her in a vacant house and setting her alight.
Sigobe said the deceased's cellphone was found in the youths' possession.
They will appear in court on Wednesday on charges of murder, rape, assault with aggravating circumstances, arson and theft.
