Police in Kirkwood are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of a 13-year-old child.
Police Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says the teenager is from Reservoir Hills in Despatch and was visiting family when the accident occurred.
The family members were travelling in a white Isuzu bakkie, which had broken down in the road lane.
Swart says they were busy repairing the bakkie when a Fiat-Uno approached them on the Enon-Kirkwood tar road.
The teenager allegedly stepped in front of the Uno to slow it down, when it struck him.
He died on the scene.
