A teenager drowned at De Bakke in Mossel Bay, after being swept out to sea by rip-currents while swimming.
The National Sea Rescue Institute says emergency services, including police divers, arrived at the scene on Saturday afternoon, and launched an extensive search.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says the body of the 16-year old was later located and recovered from the surf by police divers.
The boy from Mossel Bay was declared dead at the scene.
