Police in Port Alfred arrested a 19-year-old man who allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager while she was jogging along West Beach on Monday.
Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender says the victim, who is in her late teens, was approached by a man who was armed with a knife.
She says he sexually assaulted her before taking her cellphone and fleeing on foot.
The K9 unit and local security officers who were in the vicinity managed to arrest the fleeing suspect.
Govender says the victim's phone was in his possession.
The girl who is severely traumatised was treated on the scene.
The suspect will appear in the Port Alfred Magistrates Court later this week.
