The 18-year-old suspect who was taken into questioning by the Eastern Cape police in connection with the rape of five learners from a school in the Bityi administrative area has been released.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa said the teenager was not linked to the case but the investigation continues.
The women, aged between 20 and 25, also opted to continue writing their exams after being taken to a safe place.
