Eastern Cape police have arrested a 40 year-old man and recovered two high-calibre rifles, as well as a pistol and ammunition, following a raid on a house in Qumbu.
Police spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo said an AK47 assault rifle, an R5 rifle, and a Taurus 9mm pistol were recovered at the house.
He said police also discovered a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) uniform, and tools typically used to tamper with vehicle identification numbers.
Matyolo said the suspect could also face additional charges as the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, he said while officers were busy on the scene, a 34-year-old-man and a 63-year-old woman arrived and attempted to stop them from performing their duties.
They were arrested and charged with obstructing the cause of justice, crimen injuria, interfering with police work, and common assault.
All three suspects will appear at the Qumbu Magistrates Court on Friday.
