Teen arrested for allegedly killing Mossel Bay sailing champion

A 16-year-old boy is due to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrates Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder following the death of a young Mossel Bay sailor, 18-year-old Khanya Mafuta.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies says Mafuta died in a Mossel Bay hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning after he was stabbed in the chest at the Marikana informal settlement in KwaNonqaba.

Khanya was a learner at the Hillcrest Secondary School and represented South Africa in the World Sailing Youth Championships in the Netherlands in July.

The teenager is facing a charge of murder.
