A Eastern Cape taxi operator has been shot killed in an attack near Mthatha.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela the 26-year-old man was shot dead while another person was wounded.He says the incident occurred shortly after nine on Tuesday morning on the R-61 between Mthatha and Libode.
Fatyela says police believe the shooting is linked to ongoing violence between operators in Mthatha and Libode.
Police are monitoring the situation.Meanwhile, Fatyela says several people have been arrested in separate incidents related to the apparent dispute between operators.He says four people have already appeared in court in connection with a murder two weeks. They remain in custody.
