A Minibus taxi travelling from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town was pulled over for a random search during the early hours of Monday morning where drugs worth over a million rand were confiscated.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says the taxi, with eight occupants, was pulled over just after 2 am on the N1 near Laingsburg
Pojie says the drugs were discovered in the trailer of the vehicle which was fully stashed with dagga, concealed in plastic bags.
The bags, weighing 900 kg has an estimated street value of R1.8 million.
The driver and his assistant aged 35 and 45 were arrested and will appear in the Laingsburg Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
