Port Elizabeth police have arrested a third suspect in connection with the abduction and murder of an NMMU student and the rape of his female companion.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday by the Task and Tracking team set up to investigate the brutal incident.
"The latest arrest was effected at about 15h00, yesterday (Tues) afternoon. The team responded to information received and a 26-year-old suspect was arrested at the corners of Tshangana and Siyakulati streets in New Brighton Port Elizabeth," Naidu said.
Twenty-eight-year-old, Thabani Ngwekazi, of Mthatha was shot dead while his 21-year-old companion, also an NMMU student, were abducted by five men on August 13th.
Naidu says the 26-year-old suspect behind bars in the latest arrest will appear in court soon.
The two other 17-year-old's arrested earlier are due to appear in court Thursday as part of the probe into the murder, rape, armed robbery and hijacking of the two NMMU students on 13 March.
