Tarkastad farmer to be sentenced for stock theft

A farmer from the Tarkastad district will be sentenced in the Queenstown Regional Court on Friday after being convicted of stock theft on the 26th of January.

Twenty nine year-old Antonie Noppe van Heerden was found guilty of unlawfully moving 103 Boer goats from a farm owned by Charl Kruger to the Dordrecht district.

Kruger resides on the Tarkastad farm Banghoek and is a neighbouring farmer to Van Heerden.

Cradock police spokesperson, Captain Stephanie Smith, says the incidents took place between 2010 and 2012.

The value of the stock is estimated at around R874 000.
