A Swartkops man has pleaded guilty in the Motherwell magistrates court to various charges brought against him in terms of the Cape Provincial Ordinance Act and the Arms and Ammunition Act.
Bompie Van der Mescht was arrested by the Uitenhage Stock Theft Unit in October last year and was released on R2 000 bail.
He was charged with poaching without a permit, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, hunting at night without a permit and using artificial light as well as hunting out of season.
He received a R2 000 fine for each of the five charges he pleaded guilty to and a suspended sentence for the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
