Criminals with an apparent penchant for beer, have hijacked and robbed a truck belonging to SA Breweries west of Port Elizabeth.
Police spokesperason, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, says a truck left the brewery's premises in Perserverance at about 5.30am on Thursday, bound for Patensie.
The four suspects in a Toyota Corolla fitted with a blue light pulled them off on the N2 west of Port Elizabeth shortly afterwards.
The driver and his passenger were ordered into the car - one of them in the boot - and they were later dropped off in Deal Party in Port Elizabeth.
Janse van Rensburg says the abandoned truck was found in Bethelsdorp later - with 17 pallets of beer missing. A pallet can typically hold tens of cases of beer.
