Three suspects are due to appear in court in Mthatha on Thursday in connection with the murder of well-known Mthatha Bishop, Thembinkosi Fandaleki.
The breakthrough came on Tuesday when police arrested the three, aged between 22 and 30 in Mthatha.
“Their arrests lead to the recovery of three Illegal firearms and ammunition,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela.
“The suspects will appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court for murder and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition on Thursday,” he said.
Fatyela said that Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members for the excellent job well done.
He said she has also encouraged the members of the community to work with police and come forward with information so that those committing crime can be brought before court.
