Four people will appear in court in Port Alfred on Monday on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, said three men and a woman were arrested by Nemato police following an intensive investigation into the abduction of a 45-year-old man on Wednesday night.
Govender said that the victim was at home when heard a knock at the door.
“He went to open and was attacked by four persons who took him to a car and drove to a field close to Bathurst,” she said.
“They stopped and stabbed him several times. He managed to escape while the suspects allegedly attempted to slit his throat,” Govender said.
The victim was found by a security vehicle and taken to Port Alfred hospital where he is in a stable condition.
Govender said the motive for the attack on the man is not yet known.
