Three suspects were wounded in a shoot out with police in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday morning while a 13 year-old schoolgirl was hit in the right leg in the crossfire.
The girl was admitted to hospital for treatment.
Police constable Mncedi Mbombo says Tactical Response Team members spotted a suspicious looking Maroon City Golf in Kwazakhele Township around 8am and gave chase when it failed to stop.
"Kwazakhele police tried to stop this city golf at the corner of Mbilini and Makhwela Street but one of the passengers from the city golf started to shoot at the police. The cops returned fire" he said.
Police chased the suspects from Kwazakhele to Gelvandale where they managed to arrest all three. All three suspects were injured and they are in hospital under police guard.
