A 19 year old man was held at the Gonubie police station for an hour after he was suspected to be a robber at Riverbend Spar.
East London spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mtati Tana says the store manager called the police after seeing the man acting suspicious and in possession of a firearm.
Tana says the man was taken in for questioning at the police station but it was discovered that the gun is a toy.
The man has been released and no charges have been leveled against him.
