Dutywa Police have opened a murder docket after a 30 year old would-be robber was shot and killed on Saturday night.
Captain Jackson Manatha says its believed that a man was depositing money at the ATM of a local bank in Dutywa at around 19h40 when three men tried to rob him.
He pulled his fire arm and shot one of the suspects who died instantly at the scene.
The other two suspects fled on foot.
Captain Manatha says the man who shot the suspected robber also disappeared.
He said police could not condone the incident and that it would have been far better had the man gone to the authorities and informed them as to what had happened.
Meanwhile: Uitenhage police have arrested a man for the murder of 23 year old Vuyisile Davids in Uitenhage.
Sergeant Majola Nkohli says two men started quarrelling after leaving a tavern in Caledon Street at 02h30 on Sunday.
The suspect pulled a knife and fatally stabbed Davids in the upper body.
A 24 year old man was arrested and will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of murder.
