Hundreds of mandrax tablets, a 9mm pistol and an undisclosed amount of cash were found at the murder scene of a biker in eQonce who was gunned down in broad day light on Sunday.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Majola Nkohli said police were investigating a case of murder and attempted murder after a bystander was also shot in the incident.
"On Sunday, 6 November 2022 around midday, it is alleged that a group of about three unknown armed men, opened fire on a 42-year-old biker Thabo Beja at Fleet Street, eQonce.
"At the scene, police also seized 465 mandrax tablets, a black powder in a plastic bag, a 9mm pistol and undisclosed amount of cash.
"[Beja] sustained multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Nkohli said a female bystander was hit by a stray bullet in the upper body and was rushed to hospital.
He urged urged anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the police.
