Suspect to lay charge against police for killing her dog

A Mossel Bay woman will appear in court on Tuesday on a charge of cultivating dagga on her farm near Brandwag.

Algoa FM News however learned that the 51 year old suspect plans to lay charges against the police for shooting and killing her dog during their search on her farm on Saturday.

A picture of the dead pitbull that was posted by the suspect on social media has sparked angry responses.

The spokesperson for the Great Brak River Police Station, sergeant Chantel Marais told Algoa Fm News the police member who shot the dog had no choice as it was done in self-defense.

According to Marais, members of the police arrived at the suspect's farm with no dog in sight.

Marais says a few minutes later police got out of their vehicles and a very aggressive dog came running in their direction.

Marais said although some of the police officers managed to get back into their vehicles one policeman could not do so and shot the dog to in order to avoid an imminent attack.
