Port Elizabeth flying squad members have shot dead a man in NU11 Motherwell believed to have been involved in a farm attack at Alexandria in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the driver of a white Isuzu bakkie was killed following a chase with police and that two other occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
He says two elderly women were accosted on their farm in the Alexandria district between 2.30 and 4.30 am.
They were tied up and the robbers then fled in their bakkie with a number of household items.
Beetge says the vehicle was spotted by police as it drove into Motherwell at around 6 am.
The two victims sustained some bruises and were treated for shock.
