Port Elizabeth police are searching for at least two suspects, following a business robbery in Cape Road late on Monday night.
Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says three suspects approached the manager of Cell C after he locked the premises to leave.
She says one of the suspects drew a firearm, and forced him and a security guard back into the building...
"It is not sure what happened exactly inside, because we are still getting statements. It seems as if the suspect's firearm jammed and they actually went to the security guard to disarm him. In that process the complainant actually had the opportunity to draw his own firearm and various shots were fired at the suspect and he later died in hospital. We recovered 3 firearms, one belonging to the suspect, one belonging to the security guard and the complainants firearm which will now be sent for ballistic testing" she said
