Suspect runs into thorny plants to escape K9 in Aston Bay

Humansdorp K9 Unit's Officer Paul.

SAPS

A 23-year-old suspect who jumped into a thorny plant to escape a K9 dog will appear in the Humansdorp Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

A police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says the suspect had to be released from the plant with a panga before he was arrested.

He says the suspect and his friend were spotted in Aston Bay on Monday morning and appeared suspicious to police who were patrolling the area.

Sergeant Nkohli says when they noticed the police they dropped their bags and ran into the bushes.

He says the K9 unit released the four-legged officer named Paul, who assisted in the arrest.

The suspect forced himself into a thorny plant to evade Paul and subsequently had to be rescued by police.

Police seized a stolen Samsung flat screen and laptop at the scene.
