Uitenhage detectives have made a breakthrough in their investigation into the recent brutal murder of a pregnant Somali woman.
Police spokesperson, lieutenant-colonel Priscilla Naidu, says a 22-year-old man from Joe Slovo informal settlement was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
She says the arrest followed a sting operation after police were able to track the woman's stolen cellphone.
Naidu says the suspect tried to sell some of the woman's stolen clothing.
The body of nine months pregnant Nasri Mohammed Qamaan, 30, was found in her flat on the corner of Cross and Caledon streets in the Uitenhage central business district by a cousin in September.
She had been smothered and strangled.
Naidu says the suspect will appear in court on Monday on a charge of murder.
