Suspect in court for three brutal murders in Port Elizabeth

The man who was arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a couple in Schoemakerskop, Port Elizabeth, appeared in the city's Magistrates Court on Monday on three murder charges.

The 21-year old Vuyani Sifunda is believed to have killed 78-year-old Ken Alexander and his partner, 76-year-old Elaine Allwright, who later died in hospital, ten days after the brutal attack.

It is also believed that Sifunda is linked to the killing of 49-year-old Tyrone Plaatjies, who was bludgeoned to death at the Forrest Hill Cemetery two days earlier.

Sifunda was arrested on the 25th of October at the Magistrates Court in Paterson, where he was appearing on a previous case of housebreaking committed earlier in the month.

The case has been remanded to next week for further investigation.

The accused is being charged with three counts of murder and two counts of aggravated robbery.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says more arrests are imminent.
