A 56-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 17-year-old girl in Plettenberg Bay
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says Sandisile Mona was reported missing in April this year after her grandmother returned home after a funeral and established she was not home.
Pojie says a search party was established but was later called off.
He says in August a passer-by who took his dog for a walk in Ladywood, discovered the remains of the young girl.
DNA samples proved to be a match to Mona.
He says the suspect was arrested last week and that the initial inquest docket was changed to a case of murder.
The suspect is making his first appearance in the Plettenberg Bay magistrates court on Monday.
