A Port Elizabeth man has been arrested for the illegal possession of perlemoen worth R60-thousand.
A vehicle and a suspect, involved in illegal abalone activities, were spotted in North End during a joint operation between the Tactical Task Force, the Police's Dive and K-9 Units and the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries on Tuesday.
The vehicle was followed to a premises in Sydwell Avenue. The place was searched and 316 units of abalone were found. The 25 year-old suspect was arrested, and is expected to appear in court soon.
