Police in Gqeberha (PE) arrested a 43-year-old man for attempted murder on Friday, after a 79-year-old man was seriously injured on 13 March when the suspect drove over him at high speed in front of his house in Motherwell.
It is alleged that the suspect knocked on Tamsanqa Jusayi's door and demanded to speak to his son, Lubabalo, but was told that he was sleeping.
A few minutes after the man left, Lubabalo and his father went outside when the suspect attempted to run them over.
Lubabalo managed to get out of the way, but his father was hit before the vehicle sped away.
Jusayi was seriously injured and taken to Livingstone Hospital.
Police traced the vehicle and established that it belonged to an ex-girlfriend of Lubabalo, which was driven by her nephew on the night of the incident.
He was arrested and will appear in the Motherwell Magistrate's Court on Monday.
