Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said the man was arrested after being found in possession of a firearm and ammunition in the early hours of Sunday morning.

When went to help him they found a pistol with a magazine and five live rounds of ammunition in his possession and arrested the man.
Janse Van Rensburg said it was later established that he was positively linked to two attempted murder cases and a reckless or negligent driving case reported at Mount Road on Saturday.
She said in the first incident at a house on Mangold Street in Newton Park, it is alleged that the suspect was questioned by a colleague over his whereabouts after he woke up and saw the company car was not there.
Janse Van Rensburg said the suspect then drew a firearm and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not discharge.
“The complainant ran away. It is further alleged that the suspect fired multiple shots and drove off with the Ford Figo.”
She said the second attempted murder and reckless and negligent driving case relates to an accident the suspect had with a panel van and an ambulance.
Janse Van Rensburg said after the collision as the driver of the ambulance approached the driver of the Ford Figo to evaluate his injuries, the driver got out and fired multiple shots before running away.
“No one was injured during the shooting and the Ford Figo was confiscated. The suspect will appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
