A 38-year-old man who is allegedly involved in the murder of a farmer in the Free State was arrested in Gqeberha on Friday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the body of 62-year-old Lance Da Silva was found with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head on his farm in Rouxville.
She says the suspect stole a rifle and baby browning pistol before fleeing towards the Eastern Cape in Da Silva's white Isuzu bakkie.
The suspect, whose name is known to Algoa FM news, is believed to be a homeless man who was living on the farm with the deceased.
He is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrates court on Monday on charges of theft of motor vehicle and firearms.
Colonel Naidu says he will then be transported back to the Free State where he will be charged with murder.
She says the SAPS flying squad and K9 members flooded the Walmer area where the vehicle was spotted.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and a rifle and stolen goods were seized.
The man sold some of Da Silva's belongings to other suspects in Airport Valley who were also arrested.
Colonel Naidu says three suspects aged between 25 and 45 were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
They will also appear in court on Monday.
