NMMU MadibazSport Director Yoliswa Lumka says the safety of staff, students and visitors to Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University is always a key consideration when staging events, including the hosting of Varsity Cup Rugby.
She was reacting to Monday night's incident in Bloemfontein in which student protestors clashed with student spectators and security staff during the Varsity Cup match between Shimla's and the NMMU Madibaz.
Lumka says she'll be liaising with other universities over the next few days to discuss the way forward as they have to be sensitive to the protests, many of which are genuine.
Next week, the Madibaz are scheduled to play Tuks at the University of Pretoria and their next home game in Port Elizabeth is on the 14th of March against Pukke.
Lumka added that NMMU will continue to engage with students from various sectors to ensure that challenges highlighted by the #FeesMustFall movement are amicably resolved.
