The fires also being fanned by strong winds.
Kouga Municipality spokesperson, Laure Lee Randall, says "all residents between Royal Wharf and the sea towards the easterly side of St Francis Bay have been asked to evacuate their homes."
"A temporary joint operations centre has been set up at the local police station. Anybody who needs assistance or can offer assistance, be it accommodation or just blankets for those affected, can go there or call 042 200 1800," she said.
Randall says there are already ten vehicles at the scene, with firefighters from Kouga and the district municipality attending to the blaze while assistance has also been received from Nelson Mandela Metro and Koukamma Municipality.
