Former ANC national spokesperson and current ANC MP, Jackson Mthembu, says the failure by the SABC to cover the Democratic Alliance Federal Congress on its free to air channel, is unfortunate and stupid but has nothing to do with the ruling party.
The DA has filed an urgent application in the South Gauteng High Court after the SABC said it would not be providing live coverage on its public channels of the party's national congress taking place in Nelson Mandela Bay this weekend.
This was relayed to the party on Friday morning by SABC Chief Executive, Hlaudi Motsoaneng, after he met his management.
In a series of tweets Mthembu went on to say that the Federal Congress was in the public interest as the DA was the second biggest party in the country and that only a fool would not know that.
He added that the more ANC members are not open about the public broadcaster, the more they were seen to be working with them.
EFF Leader Julius Malema also mentions in a tweet that the DA's Federal Congress should be covered live by the SABC - stating that it would only be fair.
SABC spokesperson, Kaizer Kgnayago, said the DA congress will air on the public broadcaster's 24 hour channel available on DSTV.
