The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has warned that time is up for people who are illegally occupying government subsidized RDP houses.
Human Settlements Portfolio Chairperson, Councillor Nomvuselelo Tontsi has met with the Missionvale Service Delivery Task Team which will now deal with Missionvale and the surrounding areas, focusing on service delivery challenges.
Tontsi says Housing, Sanitation and Electricity will be the Task Team's area of focus.
She says the Task Team has identified corruption and manipulation of the housing system as the major causes of housing delivery challenges in the Missionvale area.
These issues have resulted in a number of government subsidy RDP houses being occupied by illegal occupants, one person owning more than one house and people who were approved for these homes continuing to live in shacks.
Officials from Human Settlements have already been instructed to meet with legal services so that legal processes of eviction can begin.
In the next meeting of the Task Team on the 25th of January, a progress report is expected to be tabled.
