Steel structure collapses at Kariega restoration site - 7 injured

Seven contractors have been injured after the steel structure of the roof collapsed at the Rail Sheds restoration site in Kariega.

Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) spokesperson, Luvuyo Bangazi, says the accident happened at about 9.30 am.

He says the employees were all conscious and stable before they were taken to Mercantile Hospital for treatment.

Bangazi says their occupational health and safety engineer as well as the structural engineer are busy investigating the cause of the accident.

Work is scheduled to resume shortly on the unaffected part of the site.
