Buffalo City Metro is set to a build a R60-million state of the art high school in Amalinda, East London.
The school, to be built on land donated to the city by the provincial Department of Education, will accommodate pupils who currently walk long distances to school from areas such as Amalinda Forest, Cambridge West and Summerpride.
Ward councillor, Monwabisi Mahodi says the project is the result of relentless calls by residents for a high school during their municipal Integrated Development Plan and budget roadshow.
Mahodi says there is currently no high school in Ward 16.
The double-storey building will have 24 classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, a disability-friendly classroom block, an administration block, a science laboratory, a computer lab, a library and sports facilities.
