State funeral for murdered EC cop

An Eastern Cape policeman who was gunned down in Mthatha last week will be accorded a full state funeral.

Police Minister, Nathi Nhleko, his deputy, Maggie Sotyu and the head of the Hawks, Lieutenant-General, Mthandazo Ntlemeza, will attend the funeral service of 59-year-old Warrant Officer, Dalibandla Qokoyi, in Mthatha this Saturday.

He was gunned down last Wednesday a day before he was reportedly due to testify in the bail hearing of six men accused of several armed robberies of cash-in-transit vehicles in Mthatha and East London.

Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson, Captain Anelisa Feni, said a memorial service for Warrant Officer Qokoyi will be held on Thursday.

Feni said no arrests have yet been made in connection with the murder of Qokoyi, who was attached to the Mthatha Organised Crime Unit.
