Fashion at this year’s State of the Province Address was go big or go home.
The ladies took to the event dressed in striking bright colours and accessorised with big hats.
MEC for Arts and Culture, Pemmy Majodina, told the media that her dress was made in the United States of America.
Majodina said that she always makes a statement and she’s not going to lower her standards this year.
“First and foremost the colours there are two, there’s no confusion, it’s gold and bronze because we are a home of legends. We have everything in us and as a person in charge of arts and culture, I’m saying our bronze and gold is to feed our people hence the combination. It took me about 2 to 3 hours to prepare because I had to go do my hair, as you cans see this is my own hair. This dress was not made here, it was made in the US but I had to make it a point that it blends with me. Some of the frills were put up here by one of my designers, Linda Sithole. You know I always make a statement with my tail when I put up my dress. I dress up for the occasion and I’m not going to lower my standards.” said Majodina.
Meanwhile, MEC for Roads and Public Works, Thandiswa Marawa, said that it takes her one week to prepare for her outfit which only costed her R2500.
“You can be surprised I spent a little for this outfit. The dress was R1500 and the hat R1000. I got the dress at a shop in Johannesburg from my designer Linda. It takes me about a week to get prepared for a special occasion.” said Marawa.
